Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the designated Area Agency on Aging for our region. For more than 50 years, we've helped older adults and their caregivers across Hampton Roads live their lives with choice and dignity.
Our History
Our roots reach back to 1968, when the Senior Citizens Service Center incorporated as a 501(c)(3) to serve seniors, families, and caregivers in South Hampton Roads. In 1972, the organization became the Southeastern Virginia Areawide Model Program, or SEVAMP, and was designated the Area Agency on Aging in 1973. In 1997, we took the name we carry today: Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia.

Who We Serve
We serve all adults aged 60 and older and individuals with disabilities, and we support the caregivers who look after them. Our region covers the cities of Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach, along with Isle of Wight and Southampton counties.
You don't have to be a senior to call — we're here for the family members and caregivers worried about a parent or loved one, too. Everything we do is confidential, and we only share information with your written permission. If you live outside our area, the national Eldercare Locator at eldercare.gov can connect you to the Area Agency on Aging nearest you.
Advocacy
We speak up for seniors every day. You'll find our staff, advisory council, and board members in statewide and regional coalitions on aging, and hard at work bringing issues before the Virginia General Assembly. To reach us, call 757-461-9481.
